Kiper Wars, Attack of the “draft” Clones

By admin, March 24, 2009

Everytime I watch ESPN and see Todd McShay disrespectfully attack Mel Kiper, Jr. It just makes me shake my head. While Kiper is not the end all be all. The young padawan should be willing to listen and learn. Everyone has an opinion but sometimes when you listen you could accidentally learn.

Anyway the “debate” was about the Lions and picking a quarterback or not. Kiper thinks they should go signal caller and McShay wants a linebacker with the #1 pick in the draft. Are you kidding? So he gives himself an out by saying “or a offensive linemen”. Even still at number one he had better be a darn good lineman. Run blocking and pass blocking.

Obviously Kiper thinks that drafting a QB, Matthew Stafford out of Georgia. Well think about. They jettisoned Kitna. They need to groom someone at QB from the ground up. Its going to take time.

I understand the whole out with the old and in with the new. But to me all the other draft analysts are clones. McShay knows football but he is too emotional about it. Mel Kiper, Jr. clearly uses common sense when choosing a play or at the very least when breaking down the teams options.
